This SPT-2 Wire has three stranded copper conductors insulated in PVC. The SPT-2 Wire has an insulation thickness of .045″ and it is constructed in accordance with UL standards.

5)What is the Difference Between SPT-1 and SPT-2 Wire

In general, the difference between SPT-1 and SPT-2 is the thickness of the insulation. SPT-1 is .03” and SPT-2 is .045”. That’s the only difference physically between the two ratings. SPT-1 is a lower cost than SPT-2, which does make it more appealing, especially to pro installers. SPT-2 is specially suitable to the extremely cold climates such as Alaska, Canada, and other far north areas of other countries.
